The Health Ahead/Heart Smart Children’s Health Program recently received funding from the International Paper Company, program representatives said recently.

A donation of $7,500 was awarded to the program for purchasing supplies, materials and equipment for schools in the Bogalusa and Washington Parish School Systems.

The program is implemented in public, private, charter and parochial schools for grades K-8. It encourages schools to begin teaching health in kindergarten.

Dr. Gerald Berenson, program director, expresses his appreciation to Bernie Chascin, International Paper plant manager, and Kalisa Hyman, communications director, for their loyal support of the health program each year.
