Charles Keaton

Charles Philip Keaton, 69, born Aug. 31, 1948, in Bogalusa, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, at his home.

A longtime resident of Hemphill, Texas, he was an avid outdoorsman who adored his family and friends. He retired from the oil field and was afforded the opportunity to travel the world moving oil platforms and a career that spanned 35 years. He was an Eagle Scout and a district scout executive for the Boy Scouts of America for several years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Marianne Keaton of Hemphill; his four children, Charles P Keaton II and his wife Julie Keaton of Zachary, Caroline Keaton Bankston and Donald Bankston of Hammond, Kyle Keaton and his wife Tonya Keaton of Pine, and Rose McGovern and husband Robert McGovern of Gretna; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Verna Lee Keaton of Bogalusa; brothers, Russell and Beth Keaton of Bogalusa, Earl and Cuba Keaton of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Royce and Tina Keaton of Bogalusa, LA; along with many nieces and nephews and his best friends Robert and Janette Whitaker.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Albert Keaton; and grandparents, Bienville and Terah Keaton, and Philip and Eunice Crawford.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Nov. 12, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., and again on Monday, Nov. 13, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., with the funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
