Durwood Williams

Durwood Alford Williams, 79, a resident of Bogalusa, passed away on Nov. 3, 2017, at Resthaven Living Center in Bogalusa. He was born in Bogalusa, on Aug. 31, 1938. He was a member of Talley’s Chapel Community Church and also worked at Gaylord, where he retired after 36.5 years.

Durwood is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Mizell Williams; a son, Dalton (Sandy) Williams; his daughters, Denise (Steven) Dickson, Deidra (Jeff) Hogle and Danan (Michael) Benson; sisters, Doris White and Joyce (Donald) Warren; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous special nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Wendell Alford Williams; his mother, Ruby Robinson Williams; a brother, Donald Williams; and a sister, Janet Dewald Wallace.

Visitation was held Sunday, Nov. 5, from 11 a.m. until the funeral service at 2 p.m. at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home. Pastor Eric Seal and Pastor Steven Dickson officiated the service and interment followed at Magee Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dale Williams, Jeff Hogle, Nelson Meza, Thad Benson, Micah Benson, and Mike Fransisco.

The family would like to give special thanks to Resthaven Living Center; Dr. Hossein Tabari, Lea Davis, and the whole staff; Our Lady of Angels Hospital; Camellia Hospice; Talley’s Chapel Church Ladies; a special friend Dale Williams; and the family and friends who stood with them and brought food.
