Samuel Leonard Parker Jr., 92, a lifelong resident of Bogalusa, passed away Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, at Rest Haven Living Center. Born Nov. 10, 1924, he was a retired typesetter and press operator for The Daily News of Bogalusa. He was a member of First Baptist Church and former member of the Lions Club, Jeans and Queens Square Dance Club, Bogalusa Country Club, Lumberjack Club, and Senior Center Luncheon Group.

He is survived by his son, Anthony (Minnie) Parker of Mendenhall, Miss.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; his friends, Rosemary Earles, and Roland Parker and family of eastern Tennessee.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Isabelle Parker; his brother, George Parker; his sister, Imogene Gatzman; and his daughter, Diana Feierabend.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 2, beginning at 11 a.m. at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home, until the time of service at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Greg Whaley officiating. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Bogalusa or to the American Heart Association.
