New bathrooms added at arena

A city of Bogalusa public works crew headed by Jeff Boone was busy this week, taking out and then replacing the bathrooms at the Bogalusa Community Arena, where there are often rodeo events.

“The bathrooms out there were in pretty bad shape,” said Landon Tims, director of parks and recreation. “And we heard a little girl almost hurt herself. So we decided to buy a building and retrofit it as a safety precaution to do something about it.”

Early on Thursday, Boone was at the arena campus with a crew of two carpenters and an electrician. He explained that a handicapped ramp that would serve both the “his and hers” bathrooms would be included.
