Johnnystein Brock departed this life on Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at the age of 72 at Lakeview Medical Center in Covington.
She was born Jan. 6, 1945 in Columbia, Miss., and was baptized at an early age by the late Rev. Tebo Wilson at Sweet Rest Missionary Baptist Church. She was a faithful member until her illness. She attended Washington Parish Elementary and High School.
She enjoyed painting, drawing, puzzles and collecting books, teddy bears, caps and bags. She enjoyed shopping and visiting her relatives. She was a person with special needs but she never wanted to be treated differently than other people.
She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Rosa Brock of Franklinton; her sisters, Gloria Louis and Lorita Corimer of Lafayette; her brothers, Edward Brock of Baltimore, Md., and Ray Brock of Pascagoula, Miss.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Beauth Brown-Brock; and her brother, Earl Brock.
As we celebrate her life and what a blessing she was to all of us, she will always be remembered as being strong-willed, happy and determined to do things her way and not to be called “handicapped” because of her disability.
Her famous words were “everything nice.”
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Sweet Rest Missionary Baptist, located at 1811 Desmare St. in Franklinton. The funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. Pastor Mallery Callahan II will be officiating.
Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Franklinton is in charge of arrangements.
