On Sept. 13, the Bogalusa Police Department received a complaint from the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) in reference to inappropriate sexual activity between a man and a juvenile female, according to Maj. Percy Knight, the public information officer for the BPD.

The Bogalusa Police Department’s Detective Division, along with the DCFS, conducted an investigation on this matter. The investigation resulted in a warrant being issued for the suspect, Andre Johnson, 59, of Bogalusa, for the charge of indecent behavior with juveniles.

Knight confirmed that Johnson is a former member of the Washington Parish Council.

On Monday, Oct. 9, the BPD’s Detective Division learned that Johnson worked at a business in the Mandeville area, and therefore the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Department was notified. STPSO deputies went to the business, located Johnson and placed him under arrest as a fugitive.

The BPD Detective Division transported Johnson back to Bogalusa, where he was booked on the warrant and charged.
