Leon Thomas Sr.

Leon Thomas Sr., born Feb. 28, 1929, went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 15, 2017, at the age of 88. Mr. Thomas worked many years at the Bogalusa Coca-Cola Company then was self-employed as a vendor in the Bogalusa area. He was a Veteran in the U.S. Army and a member of Ben’s Ford Missionary Baptist Church.
He leaves behind two sons, Leon Thomas Jr. of Missouri and Ben Albert Thomas of Bogalusa; two daughters, Santhia Stewart of Bogalusa, Lana Lynette Penton and her husband Mike of Franklinton; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Pearlie Bass Thomas; two wives, Ruth Thomas and Esther Thomas; a daughter, Janet Miller; one brother and nine sisters.
Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home, beginning at 5:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. and will resume Wednesday morning, Oct. 18, after 8 a.m. until the service time at 2 p.m. Brother Jimmy Byrd will officiate the services, with the interment to follow in the Sheridan Cemetery.
Military honors will be provided by the Magic City American Legion Post #24.
