Richard Earl Rester, 71, passed away Oct. 2, 2017, at his residence here in Bogalusa.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Tynes Rester; his son, T.J. Rester; daughters, Kersan Gothard, Jamie Robertson and Dory Rester; brothers, the Rev. Charles Raymond Rester and Ray Rester; sisters, Jane Creel, Jeanette Polezack, Dianna Sandifer and Tammy Creel; 13 grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by daughters, Susan Bishop and Cassie Rester; his father, Arthur Rester, and mother, Maudie Patterson Roberts; and brothers, David, Hubert, Jerry and Tommy Rester.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, in the chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until the time for service at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the veterans’ section of Ponemah Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Magic City Post #24 of The American Legion. The Rev. Joseph Porter and the Rev. Charles Ray Creel will officiate.
