Lavelle Penton, 79, a resident of Angie, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington.

He was born on Jan. 29, 1938, in Washington Parish. He was a member of Monroe Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Adams Penton of Angie; two sons, Bruce (Donna) Penton of Folsom, and Richard A. Penton of Lenoir City, Tenn.; his sister, Lucille Ellis of Tylertown, Miss.; his brother, Donald Penton of Mississippi; and a step-grandson, Kevin Alford of Louisville, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Odine and Verlie Penton; and a sister, Myrtis Terrell.

Visitation will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Monday, Oct. 2, from noon until 3 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m., with Elder Tommy McNair, Elder Billy Reyer, and Elder Glen Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Singley Cemetery in Angie.
