Houston W. Wheat, a resident of Bogalusa, passed Sept. 28, 2017, at the age of 72. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving three tours in the Vietnam War.

He is survived by two sons, Brian (Diane) Wheat and Justin Wheat; 12 grandchildren and; 11 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Jane and Ward Efaw Wheat; brothers, Darrell, Bug and Cecil; sisters, Hazel, Essie, Mary Ann, Dene, Bennie Jane and Jeanette; and children, Latrisha Wheat, Niki Creel, and Andy Wheat.

A memorial will be held at Sheridan Jesus Name Holiness Church, located at 52392 Highway 10 in Franklinton, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4.
