Hazel Peters

Mrs. Hazel Peters, 95, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington.
Mrs. Peters was a resident of Angie. She was employed by the Washington Parish School System as a bus driver for many years until her retirement.
Mrs. Peters was a faithful and dedicated member of Mary’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Varnado, where she served faithfully as a Communion Stewart until her departure.
Mrs. Peters leaves to cherish her memories: nine children, Wilton (Michelle) Peters Sr. of Portsmouth, Va., Emeal Peters Jr. of Akron, Ohio, Elma (Charles) Pittman, Alma Martin and Odell Peters, all of Angie, Brenda Nichols of Baton Rouge, Linda Toney of Canton, Mich., Nazea (Sammie) Rogers of Angie, Melvin (Debra) Peters of Suffolk, Va.; a special daughter-in-law, Roberta Peters of Akron; an honorary son, Bernard (Doris) Harry of New Orleans; two grandchildren they reared, Quanta Peters and Tiffany Peters; 26 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Sherman (Ora Mae) Peters, and Loran (Loris) Peters Jr.; two god-children, Edgar Lewis and Sherri Pack; and a sister-in-law, Vivian Peters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emeal Peters Sr.; son, Rodney Peters; brother, Ozell Harris; sisters, Carrie Marks, Teary Rayborn, and Anniebelle “Rose” Cowart; granddaughter, Hazel Fields; and nephews, Harrison Godbolt and Edward Morris.
Visitation will be held in the chapel of Cook-Richmond Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 29, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. There will be a family hour from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.
The funeral Service will be Saturday, Sept. 30, at Mary’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Varnado, beginning at noon, with the Rev. Terrance August officiating. Interment will be in Robinson Cemetery in Varnado.
