Larry Jacobs

Larry C. Jacobs was born May 21, 1954, in Bogalusa, to the late Mr. J.B. Jacobs and Mrs. Modessa Smith Jacobs.

Larry, 63, passed away early Sunday morning, Sept. 24, 2017, at Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma.

A resident of Houma, Larry was a 1973 graduate of Bogalusa High School, where he was an outstanding athlete. Larry was one of the best football players to ever come through Bogalusa High School. He joined the U.S. Army in 1973. His rank was SP4 Army First. He was employed with various companies throughout his professional career such as Houston Shell, International Shipping, and and Gulf Oil. Larry enjoyed fishing, family, and having fun and laughs with friends.

Larry was formerly married to Gail Jenkins. To that longtime union, one daughter and two sons were born, Phachita Jacobs Price (Shavas) of Austin, Texas, and Chad Anthony Jacobs (Tiffany) and Joshua Michael Jacobs (Sherica), both of Houma. Larry is survived by his children as well as three sisters, Bernice Franklin of Jackson, Miss., Nettie Frazier (Clinton) and Joyce Richardson, both of Bogalusa; one sister-in-law, Mavis Jacobs of Killeen, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Modessa and J.B. Jacobs; five brothers, Johnny Wayne, Alton Ray, Tony Garron, Paul Douglas, and Joe Doyle Jacobs; and one sister, Margueritte Jacobs Pam.

Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 30, starting at 9:30 a.m., with the funeral following at 11 a.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home with Elder Bobby R. Brown officiating. Interment will be at Bogalusa Cemetery.
