Micheal Taylor

Micheal Taylor, 64, a resident of Mt. Hermon, passed away at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at Riverside Medical Center, surrounded by his beloved family.

He was a 1971 graduate of Mt. Hermon High School, where he was an outstanding player for the basketball team, and a longtime member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. Micheal retired from Temple-Inland after 34 years working as a millwright. He always enjoyed attending the retired millworkers luncheons and visiting with his old friends and coworkers. Micheal enjoyed hunting and the outdoors and also liked working on his tractors and lawn mowers. He adored his grandsons and cherished the time spent with his family. Micheal had a special Maltese companion, Brees, that was always by his side.

He is survived by: his wife of 27 years, Beverly McElveen Taylor of Mt. Hermon; four daughters and a son-in-law, Shea Taylor McNabb and Dillon McNabb of Kentwood, Tia Taylor and Crystal Taylor, both of Franklinton, and Melissa Walker of Dallas, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Cole and Kourtney Taylor of Mt. Hermon, and Michael and Jessica Walker of Franklinton; four grandsons, Will Walker, Maddox Taylor, Logan Walker and Eli Taylor; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Marylin Taylor of Franklinton; niece, Shelley Taylor; and mother-in-law, Bobbie Wilkes Adams of Mt. Hermon.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Dedon Taylor; a brother, Ricky Taylor; and grandparents, Lois Dedon and Tessie and Ollie Taylor.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Sunday, Sept. 24, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., and after 9 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 25. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Myron Schilling and the Rev. Ray Wuerzer officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to Mt. Hermon Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Michael Walker, Dillon McNabb, Daniel Ott, Michael Hughes, Charles Ray Dedon and Mac Wascom. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Taylor, Warren Smith, Paul Alford, Randy Seal, Raymond Cade, Billy Ray Gill, Dan Slocum and Paul Badeaux.
