Dorothy Jean Sharp Corkern, 71, passed away on Sept. 16, 2017, at her home in Michigan.

Mrs. Dorothy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her. She worked many years at Enon Elementary School as a teacher’s assistant. She was a gentle, kind soul with a delightful sense of humor. Mr. Jimmy says he knows she is looking down telling us all, I told you I was sick!

She is survived by her husband, James Corkern; sister, Elaine Passman (Dan); brothers, Charles Sharp (Christine) and Jerry Sharp (Beverly); children, Kenny Powe (Gwen), James Earl Corkern and Timothy Corkern (Jennifer); as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Estus and Evelyn Sharp; brother, Eddie Sharp; and son, Gary Powe.

The family has decided that they will not be having a funeral service for her at this time. The family will announce the date that they will have her memorial service, when they bring her back home to Louisiana in the spring.
