Thomas Alfred “Tom” Fisher, 70, a resident of Franklinton, died early Saturday morning, Sept. 16, 2017, at Good Samaritan Living Center. He was born Jan. 1, 1947, and was a longtime self-employed truck driver, carrying many different materials through the years but had most recently specialized in hauling a chemical tanker.
He is survived by: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas Robert and Paula Fisher of Mt. Hermon, and Brent Fisher of Prairieville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Vanessa and Jason Moran of Mt. Hermon, and Jana Hensen of Katy, Texas; seven grandchildren, Haley Hensen, Brayden Fisher, Gage, Jacey, and Lyric Moran, and Austin and Abbey Wilkes; a great-grandchild, Ryland Hensen; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Rheba Fisher of Franklinton, Billy Ray and Rachelle Fisher of Mandeville, and Chuck and Lisa Fisher of Centerville, Miss; and also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas “Buddy” Fisher and Wilda King Fisher; and his longtime friend and four-legged companion, Bo.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 22, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Leon Hickman officiating. Burial will follow in Ellis Cemetery.
The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to the staff of Good Samaritan, the third floor group at St. Tammany Hospital and to Hospice of St. Tammany for their care and support.
Pallbearers will be Chad Fisher, Austin Wilkes, Paul Fisher, Brent Fisher, Johnny Lane Fisher and Raymond Fisher. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Fisher, Billy Ray Fisher, Chuck Fisher and Bob Smith.
