Gov. John Bel Edwards announced two new members of the Washington Parish Reservoir District Commission on Friday.

The governor’s appointments were made after the members were nominated by other citizens, in accordance with the statute establishing the reservoir commission.

Ben W. Nevers, of Bogalusa, was one of the two appointments. Nevers is the former Chief of Staff to Edwards and a former state senator and representative. As required by statute, he was nominated by Washington Parish President Richard “Ned” Thomas.

George Brent Nobles, of Bogalusa, was also appointed to the Washington Parish Reservoir District. Nobles is a licensed engineer and professional land surveyor and the owner of Nobles and Associates, LLC. As required by statute, he was nominated by a member of the Washington Parish Council.

The Washington Parish Reservoir District was originally formed to study the feasibility of developing a reservoir in Washington Parish and to search for a potential site.
