Locals arrested for drugs in Pearl River County (Miss.)

Two Bogalusa residents were arrested on drug-related charges on Monday, Aug. 21, in Pearl River County, Miss., according to officials with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputy Bo Penton was on patrol near Highway 43 North on Aug. 21, when he saw a vehicle being driven in a careless manner, prompting a stop as the vehicle turned onto Liberty Road, Sheriff David Allison said.

While Penton spoke with the driver, identified as Leah Bunn, 41, of Border Drive in Bogalusa, and the passenger identified as Clint Walters, 26, of Tampa Street in Bogalusa, he detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, Allison said.

Both suspects were detained and narcotics investigators were called to the scene. During the search of the vehicle, investigators reportedly found Adderall, suboxone, Xanax, marijuana and some drug paraphernalia.

Bunn was arrested for three counts of felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of paraphernalia. Walters was arrested for possession of paraphernalia, Allison said.
