A Franklinton man was recently taken into custody by the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, as he is a suspect in a murder in St. Helena Parish, according to Chief Deputy Mike Haley of the WPSO.

Haley said that on Thursday, the St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office contacted the WPSO in reference to a murder that had occurred in St. Helena Parish. The suspect in the murder was identified as Dana Deshun Williams, 26, a resident of Robertson Road in Franklinton.

Haley said that Washington Parish officers began a search for Williams but were unable to physically locate him. They were able to contact relatives and advise them that Williams was being sought and should turn himself in, Haley said.

Later that day, Williams turned himself in at the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office without incident and is being held as a fugitive from St. Helena Parish.

No other information is available at this time, Haley said.
