International Paper’s Bogalusa Mill will conduct a “Mock Crisis Drill” on the morning of Thursday, Aug. 31, as part of its enhanced safety training efforts. Included in this drill will be first responders from Bogalusa and Washington Parish.

Citizens should not be alarmed by emergency vehicles and radio transmissions, as this is only a drill, said Kalisa Hyman, local communications manager. The drill does not include actual road closures, equipment shutdowns or evacuations. The mill will be conducting business as usual during the drill, as should the surrounding businesses and schools.

“The Bogalusa Mill appreciates the community’s support of our efforts to always be improving our safety response procedures,” said Bernie Chascin, mill manager.
