School bus runs off road, nobody injured

- A Washington Parish Schools school bus ran off the road Monday, but the children on board were all safe and nobody else was hurt, parish superintendent Darrell Fairburn said.
A Washington Parish school bus ran off the road Monday afternoon, but nobody was injured in the minor accident.
Darrell Fairburn, superintendent of the Washington Parish Schools, said that everyone was fine.
“(The driver Darlene) Garcia was traveling southeast on Highway 38 making a right turn on to Pleasant Hill Road,” he said. “A student fell off his seat and distracted the driver, and she ran off the road into some woods. All students were quickly evacuated. No injuries were sustained.”
Fairburn added that the bus only sustained minor damage.
Washington Parish Fire Department District No. 9 responded to the scene, along with other agencies.
