Willene Brumfield

Willene James Brumfield passed away on Monday, Aug. 21, 2017. She was born on Nov. 8, 1928, in Mt. Hermon, to the late Willie and Anna Vernon James. She was the eldest of three children. She attended Washington Parish Training School.

On Aug. 14, 1948, she married Oless Brumfield, to this union 10 children were born.

She joined Sweet Home Church of Christ Holiness USA at an early age and was a dedicated and faithful member until her health failed. She loved the Lord, she loved people and her church family. She was delighted in serving on the Usher Board, assistant Sunday School Teacher, UCWM and deaconess.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted children, Frances (Larry) Smith of New Orleans, Gerald Oless (Laura) Brumfield of New Orleans, Lynetta Johnson of Pittsburg, Calif., Ervin Lamont Brumfield Sr. of Houston, Texas, Alan Scott Brumfield and William Isaac Brumfield of Franklinton; one sister, Selena J. Crain of Elkhart, Tenn.; three sisters-in-law, Laura Perkins Walton of Decatur, Ga., Ada Mae Brumfield, and Christine Taylor both of Franklinton; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Sept. 2, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with the funeral services following at 11 a.m. at Sweet Home Church in Franklinton. Elder Washington Drake will be officiating.
