A Hammond man was arrested by the Bogalusa Police Department at approximately 4:38 p.m. on Thursday, after officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on West Ninth Street that was involved in an ongoing narcotics investigation, Maj. Percy Knight of the BPD said Friday.
Knight, the public information officer for the BPD, said the driver was about to make a drug sale.
“Officers searched the area near the drivers seat and located a bottle of Promethazine syrup, which is a Schedule IV narcotic, and two small clear baggies containing a powdery/crystalline substance which was suspected methamphetamine,” Knight said. “After testing the substance in a field test kit, the substance showed a positive result that it was methamphetamine.”
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Saul J. Addison Jr., 37, of Hammond.
Hammond was placed under arrest and booked on the charges of distribution of a Schedule II narcotic, distribution of a Schedule IV narcotic and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug free zone.
