- The ribbon cutting for the new Willis Avenue mural took place on Monday, since the artist, Wes Parker finished up last Friday. But the barricades will remain in place through this weekend so citizens can get an up-close look at all the details Parker included. The public viewing of the mural will be open starting at 8 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday. Parker will be there from 8 a.m. through 10 a.m. Saturday to meet people and to answer any questions. All barricades will be removed and traffic will return to normal by 8 a.m. Monday. Shown are, left to right, Bogalusa Personnel Director Judy Gray, Parker, Mayor Wendy Perrette, Public Works Supervisor Jeff Boone, and Director of Public Works James Hall.
The Willis Avenue mural is complete, and the city of Bogalusa is offering citizens a way to safely view the details of the large art project this weekend.
The barricades blocking the right lane of Willis Avenue will remain in place until Monday, allowing two days of special viewing on Saturday and Sunday.
Interested drivers are asked to park in the old armory parking lot at 104 Avenue B, and a walkway to the mural will be marked for safety. The event will take place starting at 8 a.m. both days. Muralist Wes Parker, who finished the art Friday, Aug. 11, will be in attendance from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday to greet the public and to answer any questions.
All barricades will be removed and traffic will return to normal by 8 a.m. the following Monday.
