A 17-year-old from Bogalusa was arrested Monday, and charged in connection with a recent vehicular burglary.
According to Chief Deputy Mike Haley of the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, on Monday, WPSO Patrol Lt. Chris Hickman responded to a complaint from residents of Yellow Branch Road that a suspicious man was going to their residences asking for a ride away from the area.
When Hickman responded to the scene, he encountered Andrew Vaughn, 17, a resident of South Dogwood Avenue in Bogalusa, walking in the roadway. Haley said Vaughn was in possession of items that had been stolen from a vehicle at one of the residences.
Vaughn was arrested and transported to the Washington Parish Jail, where he was booked on one count of burglary of a vehicle and one count of criminal mischief. At this time, no bond amount has been set.
“It doesn’t matter if you are 17 or 77 or anywhere in between,” Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal said. “If you steal from others, you are going to jail when we catch you. And, we will eventually catch you. Thanks are in order for the alert residents who called us and for Lt. Hickman who quickly took Vaughn into custody.”
