David Moak Sr.

David Joseph Moak Sr., 64, a resident of Franklinton, died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital.

He was a foreman with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development with 30 years of service. David loved to tinker with things in his garage, mechanic work, carpentry and even small electronics. He liked to take things apart and rebuild them. David loved to drink his coffee and watch old movies or his new favorite show, “How It’s Made,” on the Discovery Channel. He always enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and he had special place in his heart for his pet German shepherd, Sarah.

He is survived by: three daughters and sons-in-law, Mandy and Lee Davis, Elizabeth Moak, all of Franklinton, and Felicia and Chris Forbes of Pine; son and daughter-in-law, David Joseph “Joey” Moak, Jr. and Erin Moak of Franklinton; seven grandchildren, Kimberlie Davis, Will Davis, Dalton Forbes, Hailee Forbes, Nickolas Moak, Brailyn Moak, Ashton Deering and Daxton Moak; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Nathan and Jill Moak of Bogalusa, and Ben Moak of Plano, Texas; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Cynthia and Art Martinez of Baton Rouge, Sylvia and Paul LaPointe of Jonesboro, Ga., Lydia and Mehdi Asgari of Wilmington, N.C. And also numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Earline Smith Moak; and parents, Percy Moak Jr. and Julia Gottlieb Moak.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Sunday, Aug. 13, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Joe Kelly and Eld. Burdette Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Ellis Cemetery.
