Two Bogalusa men went to jail on Friday, Aug. 4, for the burglary of a business on Highway 21 South, but authorities are still looking for a third suspect in the case, according to Chief Deputy Mike Haley of the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Eric Terrell Butler, 31, a resident of North Royal Street and Darnell Reed, 46, a resident of Avenue J, are accused of making forced entry into a closed business and stealing various items.

The break in the case came when a Bogalusa police officer made a traffic stop on Butler and discovered stolen items from the business. Information gained after the traffic stop led to the identification of Reed as another one of the burglars, Haley said.

Surveillance video in the business captured an image of the third thief and the WPSO is asking the public to help identify him. Any person who can identify the third person is asked to call Lt. Tom Anderson at 985-661-2021, extension 2059. Callers may remain anonymous.

Both Butler and Reed remain in jail. Butler is charged with burglary of a commercial business and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond is set at $10,500. Reed is charged with two counts of burglary of a commercial business, one count of simple burglary and one count of resisting an officer. His bond is set at $30,500.

Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal asks for the public’s help in identifying the third burglar.

“Two out of three is a good batting average, but we need three out of three of these thieves in our jail,” Seal said. “We are saving a mattress for the third one and we need to identify him quickly. Please help us out in this matter and let’s get this thief off of our streets.

“Many thanks to the Bogalusa Police Department for their valuable assistance in this matter. We value the good working relationship we have with Chief (Kendall) Bullen and his officers.”
