A Bogalusa man was booked into jail after leading Bogalusa police and Washington Parish sheriff’s deputies on a pursuit, according to Maj. Percy Knight, the public information officer for the Bogalusa Police Department.

Knight said the incident started at approximately 9 p.m. on Tuesday, when BPD officers were patrolling in the area of Avenue L. They reportedly observed a Nissan Frontier make two different turns without a turn signal being activated.

“The officers got behind the vehicle and activated their emergency blue lights to initiate a traffic stop,” Knight said. “The vehicle failed to stop, and a police pursuit began with additional units from the Bogalusa Police Department and the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Department assisting.

“The vehicle turned into a driveway of a residence located in the 1300 block of West Ninth Street and stopped. The driver, identified as Shawn Fox Sr., 41, of Bogalusa, got of the vehicle and threw a clear plastic bag on the ground that contained a white powdery substance. The substance in the bag was identified as methamphetamine.”

Fox was arrested and booked on the following charges: aggravated flight from an officer, no insurance, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug-free zone.
