John Pearson Brooks Sr., 59, passed away on Aug. 4, 2017, at his residence in Franklinton.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Westmoreland Brooks of Franklinton; one son, John Pearson Brooks Jr. of Franklinton; four daughters, Veronica Sibley of Walker, Nicole Bounds of Franklinton, Lucy Brooks of Mississippi, and Dixie Brooks McLin of Walker; one brother, Wayne Brooks of Slidell; one sister, Billie Faye Brooks of Bogalusa. He is also survived by his mother, Juanita Varnado of Bogalusa; and nine grandchildren, Tyler Wilson, Adam McLin, Clifford Donald (Little man) Brooks, Austin Bounds, Wesley Bounds, Zandra Bounds, Haley Brooks, Carol Bounds, and Heaven Butler.

He is preceded in death by his father, Alcus Brooks; and two brothers, Huey Phillip Brooks and David Wayne Brooks.

Visitation was held in the chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home of Sunday, Aug. 6, and burial followed on Monday, Aug. 7, at Ponemah Cemetery.
