An 8-year-old girl who grew up and currently lives in Bogalusa is featured in the July 24 edition of People magazine, as the publication’s headlines call CeCe Price a “Superstar” and an “Instagram Sensation.”

The young, shining star is the daughter of Daphne Watson and Christopher Price, and the stepdaughter of Aubrey Watson. Her siblings are Jalen, 14, and Cameran, 10. She is also the granddaughter two people who are very well known in Bogalusa — Eddie Walker, a coach at Bogalusa High School, and Deloris Walker, director of the finance department for the Bogalusa City School system.

The magazine story’s writer, Patrick Gomez, says Cece has more than 1 million followers on Instagram, “thanks to her comedy sketches and spot-on celebrity impersonations.” Watson said the impersonations include Beyoncé, Kevin Hart, Steve Harvey, Selena Gomez, and Ellen DeGeneres.

CeCe, the quick-study master of different characters, also has 575,000 followers on Facebook and 100,000 subscribers on YouTube.

It all started when CeCe was 2-1/2 years old, Watson said. It really took off after she saw Barack Obama on a television commercial during his re-election bid in 2012.

“She said, ‘He’s cute!,’” Watson said. “She was 3 or 4, then. I turned the camera on, and she just kept going. I told her to say, ‘Welcome to the CeCe Show, everybody!’ That was the real beginning. People were asking me to post more.”

Watson said she launched “The CeCe Show” on Instagram in late 2013, and it soon had 50,000 followers. She was incredulous.

“We were just playing around,” Watson said. “We weren’t trying to make a career out of it.”

But now the girls are making a living via the CeCe Collection, a line of lip gloss and clothing, a production company, and paid advertisements and branded content on what CeCe’s mother posts on Instagram. The two shoot a video for posting “mostly every day.” The young star also does promotions for small to larger businesses, and she hosts promotional events.

Watson describes her daughter as “very humble and observant, talented and very hilarious.” Then she adds, “She’s a trip!”
