Gerald Cleveland Smith, a resident of Bogalusa, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at his home at the age of 73. He was born on Jan. 29, 1944, in Lyman, Miss. He served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Washington Parish Correctional Institute for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hileman of Bogalusa; three daughters, Kelli (Jerry) Dillon of Bogalusa, Carrie Poche of Ponchatoula, and Kacie (Josh) Smith of Bogalusa; his son, Jeffery (Amie) Smith of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Jeannie (Butch) Hand of Bogalusa, and Susan (Paul) Taylor of Long Beach, Miss.; four brothers, James (Diane) Smith of Denham Springs, Donnie (Beth) Smith of Bogalusa, Dennis (Karen) Smith of Bald Knob, Ark., and Chris (Rhonda) Smith of Bogalusa; grandchildren, Ronnie (Cara) Pourciau, Madison Smith, Brianna Smith and Caden Smith, Alex Dillon and Lily Dillon, and Isaac Brady; great-grandchildren, Hunter Pourciau and Mason Pourciau.
Visitation will be held at Westside Emmanuel Baptist Church on Saturday, July 29, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Memorial services will begin at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Marcus Rosa officiating. Committal services will be held at a later date.
