A Bogalusa man, who was initially pulled over for failure to use a turn signal, ended up being arrested on attachment for not appearing in court as well as for several drug charges on Sunday, according to Maj. Percy Knight of the Bogalusa Police Department.
Knight, the public information officer for the BPD, said that on Sunday officers stopped a vehicle in the 500 Block of Avenue B for failure to use a turn signal. The driver, Boyd Jones, 50, was arrested for an active Bogalusa City Court attachment for not appearing in court.
As officers were inventorying the vehicle for towing, a bag containing a large amount of marijuana packaged for sale was located behind the passenger seat, Knight said. The large bag reportedly contained 19 bags of marijuana, a pipe for smoking marijuana, screen filters for the pipe and some rolling papers.
Jones was also arrested on the following charges: possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug free zone, and driving under suspension.
