- Chris Robinson, of Northshore Tree Service, cuts a tree in the 700 block of Avenue I that had the potential to be uprooted. NTS owner Danny Thomas said many trees are uprooting all over the city. James Hall, Bogalusa director of public works, said any resident with concerns about a particular tree should call 985-732-6213 to have someone check it out.
Bogalusa Director of Public Works James Hall warns the public that seemingly healthy trees are a cause for concern, due to the continued saturation of the soil in which they’re rooted.
“Even though it hasn’t rained in a few days, the ground is still wet,” Hall said. “It’s super wet, and it’s keeping the water table high.
“What look like healthy trees are uprooting. There have been six in the past two weeks.
“People need to be careful, and they need to look out for their kids.”
Hall said citizens should call 985-732-6213 if they want the city to check on a potential problematic tree.
