- Organizers encourage everybody who’s 18 or older to join them in the parking lot next to Magnolia Garden Inn and Suites at 7 p.m. Saturday for the second Light Up the City ride. The ride is free of charge, and the group only asks that the riders wear “neon” shirts and have lights on their bikes. The idea is to visit local businesses during the ride, and to encourage unity in order to “bring the magic back to our city.”
Watch out for a large group of bicycle riders as they “Light Up the City” of Bogalusa for the second time on Saturday night.
Organizers Tanika Keys-Mingo, Christian Ransfer, LaSharta Scott and Dana Walker held their first ride in May. They wanted to bring a fun, unifying, physical activity to the “Magic City,” and they had 60 riders participate. In May, they rode through Bogalusa in wearing “neon” shirts and with colorful lights on their bicycles. In addition to unity and physical fitness, another component of their message is patronizing local businesses.
The organizers encourage all adults 18 and over to meet them in the parking lot next to Magnolia Garden Inn and Suites at 7 p.m. Saturday to embark on the ride to “Light Up the City.” It’s free and the only thing they ask is for riders to wear “neon” shirts and to have their bikes strung with lights.
