Elaine Schilling

Elaine Carter Schilling, a longtime resident of Bogalusa, died peacefully on June 27, 2017, at the age of 91. Born on Oct. 19, 1925 in Gillsburg, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Jim Carter and Pearl Anders Carter.
She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Byron Schilling; sons, Jim Schilling and wife Henrietta, Mike Schilling and wife Debbie; daughter, Lisa Schilling Leonard and husband Shannon; grandchildren, James Schilling and wife Effie, Scott Schilling and wife Laura, Laura Schilling Kintner and husband Bryant, Michael Schilling and wife Abbie; and great-grandchildren, William, Andrew, Theodore (Teddy), Eleanor (Ellie) and Lucille (Lucy) Schilling.
She is preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth and Charles Ray Carter.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral services at 11 a.m., on Saturday, July 1, at the Poole Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa. A graveside service will be conducted immediately following the funeral at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Bogalusa with the Rev. Marcus Rosa officiating.
The family wishes to thank care providers Rachel Laporte Geary, Victoria French, Charlotte Arceneaux, Nina Sistrunk, Jacee Sistrunk, Barbara Williams, Amanda Kerry and Susan Martin for the compassionate care and love shown to their mother in her home. The family would also like to thank the Pearl River County Nursing Home staff and Forest General Hospital hospice staff for their excellent care during her final days. Additionally, the family would like to recognize their loving church family at Westside Emmanuel Baptist Church for their constant prayers and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to the Shut-In Lunch Program at Westside Emmanuel Baptist Church.
