Pat Boatman, of the Washington Parish Library headquarters in Franklinton, has been named to the State Library of Louisiana’s Database Advisory Committee.

The committee oversees the selections and administration of databases for public libraries across the state. Boatman’s term will begin on July 1.

“It is a very rare honor to be accorded to a small library, and one that speaks volumes in regard to the voice that this system has in statewide affairs,” said Washington Parish Library director Al Barron. “Also, the president of the Library Board of Control, Donald Westmoreland, just secured a grant from the Louisiana Library Association to host training for library advocates and trustees. He secured the backing of LLA during its quarterly Executive Board Meeting on Friday, June 16.

“While small libraries might not be felt to have much of an impact, this is news to the contrary. Thanks, Donald and Pat, for a job well done.”
