Bruce Billings

Bruce Dale Billings, also known as “Goat,” 60, a resident of Bogalusa, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 15, 2017, in Bogalusa. He was born on May 26, 1957, in Bogalusa.

He is survived by his son, Grant Billings of Mandeville; his mother, Janice Louise Stillwell Billings of Bogalusa; three brothers, Percy (Miriam) Billings of St. Louis, Mo., Duane (Freda) Billings, and Joe Billings both of Bogalusa; the mother of his children, Cathy Billings of Mandeville; and his companion and best friend, Marsha Hunt of Bogalusa.

He is preceded in death by his loving son, Matthew Billings; and his father, Harold Lloyd Billings.

Bruce lived the majority of his life in Mandeville. He was an exceptional horseman and later worked in the movie industry. He finally returned to what he loved best, training horses, and a recent adventure, training mules. He died on a sunny day, in an open field, doing what he loved best.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, June 20, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, June 21, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Father Daniel Brouillette officiating. Graveside services will continue at Mandeville Cemetery at 1 p.m.
