Joseph Jones

Joseph “Joe” Jones, born Feb. 7, 1937, passed away peacefully at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Franklinton, at the age of 80.

Joe was an auto mechanic and had his own business in Bogalusa for many years, rebuilding alternators and starters. Joe was a native of Bogalusa and was of the Baptist faith.

He leaves behind a son, Ronald Joseph Jones of Franklinton; three daughters, Doris Faye Valdez Wascom and her husband Bo, Veda Thomas and her husband Terry of Sandy Hook, Miss., and Pat Stringer and her husband Keith of Foxworth, Miss.; a brother, Coy Jones and his wife Elaine of Bogalusa; five step-children, Walter Green, Johnny Green, Ricky Green, Ann Green and Janice Green; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Boutwell Jones; a brother, J.D. Jones; five sisters, Joyce Wright, Lena Netto, Bobbie Jean Blackburn, Nevie Newman and Sylvia Brown; and two step-children, Joe Green and Bennie Homer Green.

Visitation was held at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home on Friday June 16, beginning at 10 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Services were conducted by Rev. Pete Underwood, with cremation following.
