City plans to collect stray shopping carts

Bogalusa Director of Public Works James Hall said he was talking with his code enforcement officers recently, and they decided to take a new approach to an old problem.

“We have a problem with shopping carts in Bogalusa,” Hall said.

He said the officers have talked to the stores that have the carts, to no avail. So the plan now is to send each of the businesses a letter of warning before sending out the city truck, picking the carts up, and “taking them straight to the scrap yard” starting on July 5.

“We’ll give everybody about a month’s notice, then we’ll probably do it once a month after we start,” Hall said.
