Robert Jefferson

Robert Earl Jefferson was born to the late John Henry and Aldonia Jefferson-Lowery, on Sept. 15, 1942, in Bogalusa. He departed this life on May 30, 2017, in Terrytown.

He was a graduate of Central Memorial High School, Class of 1961, in Bogalusa.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife, Ruth Lee Jefferson of Slidell; son, Robert (Renee) Jefferson Jr. of Snellville, Ga.; daughter, Kelly Ann Jefferson of Slidell; grandson, Jesiah Robert Jefferson Sr. and great-grandson, Jesiah Robert Jefferson Jr. of Massachusetts; sisters, Vergie (Sidney) Downer and Barbara (Charlie) Simmons of Hartford, Conn., Brenda Lowery, Cynthia Penton Bell, Debra Johnson, Joanne (Richard) Wells, all of Massachusetts, Alice Faye (Marcus) Reynolds of Hampton, Va.; brothers, Richard (Cynthia) Lowery of Baton Rouge, Rowen Lowery, Raymond (Theresa) Lowery, Lawrence Lowery, John (Nicole) Lowery Jr., all of Massachusetts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Katie Marsha; and brothers, Willie Jefferson and Leroy Lowery.

Funeral arrangements are by Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Bogalusa. Homecoming service will be Friday, June 9, at First Church of God and Christ, 612 E. Fifth St. in Bogalusa. Bishop Howard Quillen will be presiding. Visiting hours are 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the service begins at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in the Bogalusa Cemetery.
