Late in the evening of May 30, Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies responded to a report by a concerned citizen that a woman on Penn’s Chapel Road had been assaulted by her son and his girlfriend.
When deputies arrived at the residence of the victim, they determined that the victim had been playing a table game with her son and others when an argument broke out between the mother and the son’s girlfriend. The verbal argument escalated when the girlfriend began to hit the mother, at which  time the son joined in and also began to strike his mother.  He then grabbed his mother around the neck and threw her to the floor. At that time, another woman who was present pulled the son off of his mother. When this occurred, the son struck that woman in the chest area.
After the son was pulled away from his mother, he obtained a cast iron skillet from the sink and threw it at his mother, striking her in the head. At that time, the other woman left the residence, stating that she was going to call the Sheriff’s Office. Upon hearing this, the son and his girlfriend fled the residence and went into nearby woods.
Both women went to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. At the hospital, the mother was diagnosed with severe injuries, which required that she be transferred to a hospital in New Orleans for specialty treatment. The other woman was treated and released.
Meanwhile, Washington Parish Drug Task Force detectives arrived on the scene and entered the woods to search for the son and his girlfriend. They were located, taken into custody without incident, arrested and transported to the Washington Parish Jail.
Kurtis L. Strong, 38, who resides with his mother on Penn’s Chapel Road, was booked into the jail charged with two counts of aggravated battery and domestic abuse battery by strangulation.  He remains in jail with no bond.
Venus Venessa Camacho, 38, who also resides at the residence on Penn’s Chapel Road, was booked into the jail charged with aggravated battery.  She remains in jail with her bond set at $25,000.
Strong was previously arrested on April 13, 2014 and remained in jail for five days before being released on a $20,000 bond.   He was charged with domestic abuse child endangerment and aggravated assault.  Camacho has not been in the Washington Parish Jail previously.
“It is unimaginable to think that a grown man would physically assault his mother,” stated Sheriff Randy Seal. “The biblical command to love one’s mother is not a suggestion. It is a commandment that requires unconditional love for our parents. Thanks, patrol deputies and drug task force detectives, for locating this pair and putting them in jail.”
