The Dogwood Ladies League of Bogalusa recently donated funding to repair the lighting fixtures that adorn the walking path at Goodyear Park.

When the members of the group were discussing their spring philanthropic project, they contacted the city of Bogalusa for its current list of needs. Landon Tims, director of parks and recreation, stated that all of the lanterns on the walking path at Goodyear Park were in need of repair.

Michelle Goode, event lead of the Washington Parish Relay for Life and member of the Dogwood Ladies League, identified the emphasized the urgency for the lighting to be fixed before the Friday, May 12, Relay event. After speaking with Tims, league members were told that they could indeed have the lights fixed before the event, and they were.

“Thanks to the hard work of the city of Bogalusa and to the Bogalusa Lumber Company, the lighting was completed just in time to shine down on those who celebrated life and a cure for cancer,” said Lauren Ritchie, president of the Dogwood Ladies League. “We could not be more proud for the opportunity to give back to our great city; we hope that the lighting will ensure the safety of all who use the walking path for many years to come.”
