Pamela Smith

Ms. Pamela Smith was born Aug. 4, 1951, to the late Mr. Joe and Mrs. Mary Smith of Bogalusa. She departed this life on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, in the Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington.

Pamela was a 1969 graduate of Bogalusa High School. After graduating she attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and after relocating to New Orleans, she attended Spencer Business College. After graduating, she began her long and blessed career with Bellsouth/AT&T, working in New Orleans, Atlanta, Ga., and Bogalusa, where she worked for 30 years as a telephone operator.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Mary and Joe Smith; her grandparents, Ella and Mitchell Carter; her sister, Mary Ella Smith-Fields and her cousin who was like a brother, Alvin C. Carter.

She will be fondly remembered and loved by her four brothers, Joseph Smith of New Orleans, Richard (Gwyn) Smith, Glynn Smith of Bogalusa, and Ricky Hill of Jackson, Miss.; four sisters, Penny S. Mack, Cynthia S. Jackson, Debra A. Smith and Joelnette Collins of Bogalusa; one aunt, Mattie Carter Wallace of Bogalusa; three godchildren, Fredrica Fox-Paulk of The Colony, Texas, Okeisha Jackson of Lake Charles, and Kelmora Magee of Bogalusa; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many more friends, especially her Thirkield family and Class of 1969 (BHS/CMHS).

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 11, at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m., followed by a family hour from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Funeral service will be on Friday, May 12, at Harry’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Bogalusa, LA at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Nolan Robinson, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Bogalusa Cemetery.
