Raymond Smith

Raymond Hamilton Smith, 53, a resident of Franklinton, died Thursday, April 27, 2017.

He was a 1983 graduate of Franklinton High School and, later in life, a big supporter of Demon athletics. After graduation, Raymond obtained an associate’s degree in Landscape Design and Golf Course Management in Lake City, Fla. He then began his career in Vero Beach, Fla., before returning to Franklinton. Raymond was the superintendent of Beau Chene Country Club in Mandeville for many years before becoming superintendent of the Franklinton Country Club.

Raymond was currently the owner of My 3 Sons Lawn Care. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball and other sports. He also enjoyed fishing and playing golf. Raymond liked to grill outdoors and loved camping, where he could relax with his family and friends. He was always a loving husband, father, brother and friend that will be sadly missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by: wife, Sharon Rogers Smith of Franklinton; three sons, Jordan Smith and his fiancé Rachel Branch, Trevor Smith, and Tayor Smith, all of Franklinton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald George and Evelyn Smith of Munich, Germany, and Gary and Barbara Smith of Baton Rouge; sister and brother-in-law, Rachelle and Billy Ray Fisher of Mandeville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, L.B. and James Henry Rogers of Franklinton; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Karen and Kenneth Armand of Franklinton; brother-in-law, Marty Rogers of Franklinton; nephews and nieces and spouses, Austin Armand, Chelsea Armand, Paul Fisher, Sara and Ben Lee, Laura and Miles Dixon, Neil Smith, Kelly and Dominic Glover, and Meggie Smith; and also numerous great-nephews, great-nieces and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Smith and Norma Trezza Smith.

Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Saturday, April 29, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Eld. Edward Penton officiating. Burial followed in Ellis Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Gary Smith, Billy Ray Fisher, Marty Rogers, Paul Fisher, Steve Alexander and Mike McNeal. Honorary pallbearers were Andy Stires and Carl Johnson.
