Stephen Brister

Stephen Stone Brister, 68, a resident of Lafayette, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Golden Age Nursing Home in Denham Springs. He was a Sheriff’s Deputy for the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Department, and also worked with the Causeway Patrol. He was born on April 5, 1949, in Bogalusa.

He is survived by his former wives, June David Brister of Lewisburg, and Helen Ruberts of Folsom; a daughter, Bridget Marie Degioanni (Geoff) of Lewisburg; and three grandchildren, Ashley Marie Degioanni, Blake Andrew Degioanni, and Hunter Wade Degioanni.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Badon Brister and Vivian Honaker Brister.

Visitation will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Sunday, April 30, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 4 p.m., with the Rev. Mark Hollingsworth officiating. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.
