Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, at Carson Springs Baptist Church in Sandy Hook, Miss., for Hilmon J. Thomas Jr., 78, of Sandy Hook, who died Sunday, April 9, 2017 at his residence.

Interment will be in Carson Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Archie Herrin, Bro. Carl Dickens, and Bro. Eddie Henson will officiate. Visitation was held Tuesday, April 11, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Carson Springs Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Mike Thomas, Drew Thomas, Duran Thomas, Coby Bryant, Joey Rainer and Kenny Thomas. The Men’s Sunday school class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Hilmon was a Sunday School teacher, Young Boys Ministry teacher, and faithful member of Carson Springs Baptist Church. He also served for eight years as a Justice of the Peace. He and his wife, Lucille, served as Worthy Matron and Patron of Honor of the Eastern Star Tylertown Chapter 165. He worked for 43 years at Temple-Inland Papermill.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hilmon J. Thomas Sr.; his mother, Grace Ann Thomas; his step-mother, Bertha Thomas; one brother, Alvin Thomas; three sisters, Shirley McKenzie, Fannie Gerald and Joyce Miley; two step-brothers, A.G. Nobles and Larry Nobles; and one step-sister, Mary Ingram.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lucille Thomas of Sandy Hook; three sons, Hilmon John Thomas III of Sandy Hook, William Todd Thomas (Angie) of Collins, Miss., and Jeffery Allen Thomas (Laura) of Sandy Hook; one daughter, Sabrina Henson (Eddie) of Amite; three step-sisters, Delores Williams of Bogalusa, Christine Seal of Baton Rouge, and Demmorese Hollinsworth of Bogalusa; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
