The Bogalusa Blues and Heritage Festival continues to get attention from outside Washington Parish.
On Wednesday, organizers learned that the BBHF was chosen as one of the first six events to be promoted in the Louisiana Office of Tourism’s new in-state Destination Louisiana program, which will feature a different destination every month.
The multi-platform promotion package will include being featured on digital billboards in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Shreveport, Monroe, Lafayette, and Lake Charles; 1,000 radio commercials across the Louisiana Radio Network  (Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser will record a 30 second spot encouraging Louisiana residents to visit the destination of the month); a full page print ad in Louisiana Life Magazine or Acadian Life Magazine, and a full page ad in SB Magazine, which reportedly provides the best coverage in north Louisiana; coverage in the Louisiana Life Newsletter; plus Louisiana Travel will promote the destination in the highlighted area of it’s E-News, on the Louisiana Travel website, and across all Louisiana Travel social media platforms.
The package is estimated to provide approximately $23,000 in additional promotions.
The announcement letter, from Kyle Edmiston, Assistant Secretary of LOT, says Washington Parish will be featured in September. The BBHF takes place the 29-30 of that month.
“Obviously, the Bogalusa Blues and Heritage Festival is a huge draw for the state and the area, and hopefully the additional advertising and promotion will increase attendance and visitation,” Edmiston wrote.
The other five participants announced Wednesday are in Iberia Parish, Lincoln Parish, Jefferson Parish, on the Cajun Coast, and in Sabine Parish.
