Everyone is invited to take a Magical Nature Tour in Cassidy Park, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Volunteer producer Terry “Foots” Quinn said the event would include a taxidermy exhibit of preserved species that live in the Bogue Lusa Creek swamp, 4-H groups from area schools and live music.

Also on the agenda, Parks and Recreation Director Landon Tims is scheduled to speak on the progress of the park and about the new path that connects it to Goodyear Park. There will be wheelchair tours of the park’s new fruit orchards, the certified state champion trees, and the new path. If the timing is right, there will also be some dewberry picking.

Quinn said this week that the dewberries were starting to turn.

“If they’re not ready, people will at least learn where to go back next week,” he said.

Quinn said that he wants to enable the elderly and otherwise immobile to see, learn about and enjoy the park where he spends a lot of time and that he considers his own back yard.
