Ann Hutchinson

Ann Little Hutchinson died peacefully April 1, 2017, at the age of 84.

She is survived by her daughter, Jodi Hutchinson Lafranca (Tim) and grandchildren, Will and Marcelle Lafranca, all of New Orleans. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Duncan Hutchinson; her brother, Henry Dean Little; and her parents, Emmitt Little and Emily Purvis Little Channell.

Born in Purvis, Miss., on March 16, 1933, Ann graduated from Bogalusa High School in 1951 and the University of Southern Mississippi in 1955, and received her education degree from Southeastern Louisiana University.

She had a lifelong love of educating, teaching for 27 years in the Bogalusa City School System. Upon retirement, she continued to contribute to her community by teaching GED requirements, helping many young women earn their independence.

She was a member of Superior Avenue Baptist Church and a tireless volunteer with Camp Fire Girls and Camp Te Ca Towazi.

Visitation was scheduled at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 4, from noon until the service time of 2 p.m. The Rev. Clay Norwood officiated and interment was held in Ponemah Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank care providers Lisa Holloway, George Webber and the staff at The Trace for their compassionate care and love. The family would also like to thank the nursing staff at St. Tammany Parish Hospital for their excellent care during her final days.
