Patricia Pierce

Patricia Blackwell Pierce, born March 17, 1927, went home to be with the Lord on March 17, 2017, at the age of 90. She was resident of the Sun community and served as postmaster at the Sun Post Office for 26 years. She was also a member of the U.S. postal union and was of the Baptist faith.

She leaves behind a son, Jerry C. Arabie; three daughters, Tina Pierce of Sun, Sara Hathorne and her husband Danny, also of Sun, and Judith Nash and her husband Allen of Bogalusa; five grandchildren, John Jacob Jenkins, Darin Pierce, Steven Roady, Victoria Penton and Courtney Brewer and her husband Luke; one great-grandchild, Savannah Jenkins; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Rhuble Pierce; a son, John Michael Pierce; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Arabie; four brothers, Charles Blackwell, Eugene Blackwell, Glynn Blackwell and Walter Blackwell; and four sisters, Annie Ruth Perry, Leona “Sis” Mitchell, Ellen Talley and Betty Lou Blackwell.

Visitation was on Monday March 20, starting at 9 a.m. until the service time at 1 p.m. The Rev. Travis Houston and Father LeBaron Taylor officiated the services and the interment followed in the John R. Pierce Cemetery in Sun.
